The Toronto Hakka Heritage Alliance (THHA) is a network of organizations whose members live in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and hail from the Chinese Hakka diasporas of Ganzhou (China), India, Jamaica, Malaysia, Mauritius, Trinidad and Tobago and South Africa. THHA was launched in August 2013 to support and bring together the Hakka communities with one shared mission statement to Preserve, Promote and Perpetuate the Hakka culture and heritage.
The Mauritius-Chinese Association of Ontario (MCAO) is a member of THHA, and participated quite prominently in the THHA Hakka Odyssey Wall project. This exhibit was inaugurated in November 3, 2018. It showcases the unique migratory history and the rich culture and heritage of the Hakka people. It is permanently housed at the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto (CCCGT). In addition, MCAO plays an important role in the THHA annual fundraising events such as banquets like the Plum Blossom Ball and the Toronto Hakka Festival. Recently, MCAO has often partaken under the THHA umbrella in other events such as the CCC Engage “International Women's Day Celebration", held March 8, 2021.
Formal member representatives from MCAO, Mike How and Joyce Leung, the latter is one of the founding members of THHA currently sit at the THHA board level.
